Welcome to The Saltby Estate. The small village of Saltby lies in the heart of Leicestershire, midway between the market towns of Grantham and Melton Mowbray. The Estate is owned today by a family with a long history of landownership in the United Kingdom which stretches back to 1575.

The Estate surrounds the village of Saltby and is home to a diverse estate, it is also the home of The Saltby Pedigree Dairy herd, producing 4 million litres of milk per annum. It is rare to find a dairy herd of this size and pedigree still in existence in the Midlands.

On the 1st of January 2009 the Saltby herd will supply the highly regarded Long Clawson farmer owned stilton cheese business.

One of the main purposes of this website will be to inform you, the consumer of milk, as to how milk is produced and the "factors" that go into ensuring that the herd is maintained to the highest standard, both in terms of animal welfare and cleanliness generally.

On Sunday 1st June, as part of the nationwide Open Farm Sunday, we welcomed over 450 visitors from the locality and further afield which gave them an excellent opportunity first hand to see how milk is created. We look forward to welcoming you on the 7th June 2009.
